Android Quick Links: Open Deep Links and Dynamic URLs From Your Keyboard

A practical guide to opening websites, deep links, and fill-in URL templates from the Nibit keyboard without rebuilding them by hand.

Building a URL on your phone keyboard? Slow as hell.

You hunt for the right screen, carefully type an issue number, and hope (hope) you didn't mistype the path. Deep links into apps? Even easier to butcher.

Here's where Nibit Quick Links save you: you save a URL or deep link once, then tap it open from the keyboard, the app home screen, or a QuickHub tile. Done.

What Quick Links are

A Quick Link opens a website, search, or app deep link without yanking you out of your flow. Static links always go to the same place. Dynamic links ask you for a value first, then build and open the finished URL.

You can grab Quick Links from:

  • the Links tab on the Nibit keyboard
  • the Links section on the Nibit app home screen
  • a QuickHub tile if you want the shortcut without switching keyboards

Create a simple static Quick Link

  1. Open the Nibit app.
  2. Go to Links and tap +.
  3. Name it, paste the URL or deep link.
  4. Save.

Flip to the Nibit keyboard, open the Links tab, tap the link, and confirm it opens.

Good first candidates? Places you hit daily: your team docs, a status page, a support inbox, or a specific app screen.

Dynamic Quick Links with fill-in arguments

Dynamic Quick Links use argument placeholders in the URL. Tap the link, Nibit asks for each value, then opens the finished destination.

Placeholders look like {argument name="number"} and go anywhere in your URL template.

Examples:

# GitHub issue in a fixed repo
https://github.com/myorg/myrepo/issues/{argument name="number"}

# Linear issue
https://linear.app/myteam/issue/{argument name="id"}

# npm package
https://www.npmjs.com/package/{argument name="package"}

# Web search
https://www.google.com/search?q={argument name="query"}

That turns a 30-second mobile URL build into tap, type the ID, open.

Deep links into apps

Quick Links aren't locked to https URLs. Custom deep-link schemes (myapp://path) work too: jump straight into a specific screen when the app's installed.

Use the scheme your app documents. Keep the link name obvious so you can find it under pressure.

Start faster with starter packs

Don't want to invent your first set from scratch? If your Quick Links list is empty, tap Browse starter packs on the empty screen. Once you have at least one link, Add from starter packs appears at the bottom of your list:

  • Web Search
  • Developer Tools
  • Social Media
  • Communication

Customize or delete what you don't use. The goal is a tight list of links you actually tap.

Keep your main keyboard

Nibit's built as a secondary keyboard. Keep Gboard, SwiftKey, or Samsung Keyboard for everyday typing. Switch to Nibit when you need Links, snippets, clipboard history, transforms, or dictation.

Still setting up snippets alongside Links? Start with How to use text snippets on Android. Full Quick Links reference lives in the Nibit manual.
