Rewrite or Reformat Selected Text on Android Without Leaving the App

A practical guide to Nibit Transforms: clean up, reformat, or rewrite selected text from the keyboard, system text menu, Share sheet, or QuickHub.

You already have the text in Messages, email, Docs, or a form field. It just needs a cleanup, a shorter version, a format fix, or a tone pass. The usual path is copy, switch apps, edit, copy again, paste. That path is what Transforms are meant to skip.

What Transforms are

A Transform takes selected text and applies an edit in place. Local transforms handle repeatable formatting and cleanup on device. AI transforms can rewrite, summarize, translate, or follow a custom prompt when you need more judgment.

The point is not a separate writing app. It is an edit where the text already lives.

Ways to run a Transform

Nibit gives you several entry points so you can pick the least disruptive one:

  • Transforms tab on the Nibit keyboard: select text, switch to Nibit, tap Transforms, choose one
  • System text menu: select text in any app and use the Nibit Process text action when it appears
  • Share sheet: share text to Nibit, run a transform, then paste or insert the result
  • App home: open Nibit and run a transform from the home screen
  • QuickHub tile: keep transforms reachable without a full keyboard switch

If you only remember one path, start with select text, then Process text, then Nibit. Many people never need to leave the app they were already editing.

Local transforms vs AI transforms

Local transforms are deterministic and available to everyone. Use them for formatting, cleanup, extraction, and other repeatable edits that should behave the same every time.

AI transforms use cloud AI for rewrite, improve, translate, summarize, and custom prompts. Custom AI transforms require Cloud Pro.

Start with local transforms for daily cleanup. Add AI transforms when the edit needs judgment rather than a fixed rule.

First transforms worth trying

Local transforms are the fastest to start with. They work offline and instantly:

  • Trim whitespace: normalize spacing and clean up edges
  • Title case or Lowercase: fix capitalization in one tap
  • Remove line breaks: flatten text into one paragraph
  • Sort lines: alphabetize lists without leaving the app
  • Extract emails or Extract URLs: pull addresses or links out of messy text

AI transforms like Fix Grammar & Spelling, Make Concise, and Translate are worth adding once you hit Cloud Pro, but start with the instant local ones.

Keep the first set small. One reliable cleanup transform beats a long menu you never open.

Keep your main keyboard

Nibit does not need to replace Gboard or SwiftKey. Type normally, then use Nibit only when you want a transform, snippet, Quick Link, clipboard item, or dictation pass.
